In commemoration of International Women’s day (IWD) 2021, an advocacy event was held to promote learning and solidarity exchanges to further build the eco-feminist movement. Under the Global theme: “Women in Leadership” Achieving an Equal future in COVID-19, the IWD is dedicated to celebrating women’s achievements in the social, economic, cultural and political spheres bringing attention to gender parity and women’s rights.
To support this cause, Project Affected Women (PAW) from Hoima, Nwoya, Amuru and Bullisa joined voices with women around the world to shout messages on women’s land rights and supported the through a “Bicycle Caravan for Women’s Land Rights” organised in Bullisa district.
PAW presented a petition paper over to the Woman Member of Parliament from Bullisa Hon. Norah Bigirwa and other Local Government officials present. The petition paper included key targeted messages on women’s land rights. The event increased host community awareness and visibility of IWD, the women engaged with the local women in a sisterhood knowledge exchange conference. Women also engaged duty bearers from the Bullisa local government.
