The Retired Supreme Court judge, George Kanyeihamba, has asked the Government to establish an oil commission to oversee the management of oil exploration in the country.
Kanyeihamba was speaking during the commissioning of the sustainability school run by the National Association of Professional Environmentalists (NAPE).
“I do not see why the management of oil should not be made public,” he said.
He said Ugandan laws were among the best on the continent but the executive had problems of enforcing them. “We must learn to respect the rule of law if our democracy and human rights have to grow.”
