In 2014, hundreds of people in Kigyayo Village, Kikuube District were evicted from their land by Hoima Sugar Limited to pave way for sugarcane growing. Since then, the company officials and evictees living in camps for internally displaced people (IDPCs) have had a cat and mouth relationship. With support from NAPE, a mediation process has begun with the company officials meeting face to face with the evictees for talks aimed at getting at getting sustainable solutions.
